This is usually with a new owner, a new committee or when significant change is needed within the business.
This can be both hands on and working with an existing team to deliver change and business improvement or producing a report and making recommendations for the business to carry out themselves.
Robert spends most working days at golf clubs, walking courses with greenkeepers, talking business improvement and development with owners, or operations with managers and their teams. Recently Robert has run projects for Bruntsfield Links, Feldon Valley, Gatton Manor and Antognolla Spa. He is a Director of The Point at Polzeath and a non exec at Reigate Hill.
He is a member of both Huntercombe and St Enodoc and has been since junior days.
Prior to working in golf Robert was in the diamond trade with De Beers.
He is married and lives in Oxfordshire, England.
Mel has worked in most aspects of delivering financially viable and successful golf facilities and has many years’ experience in the marketing and management of golf businesses. He has also represented 360 Golf as an expert witness for county councils and worked with investors and stakeholders in identifying financial viability for new developments and existing golf businesses.
Despite this broad range of involvement in golf, Mel has notable expertise and track record with specialist Private Member Clubs, having been involved from ‘day one’ with Queenwood, having helped the Members buy Loch Lomond and in the creation of Beaverbrook, a new Members Club in Surrey.
Mel has helped run membership programs, taking a very hands on approach, which have delivered significant capital returns, ensuring financially successful projects and clubs.
Prior to co-founding 360 Golf, Mel’s background was in retail banking and owning a company that arranged commercial lending for property and leisure development.
Mel is married and lives in West Sussex, England.
Mike joined 360 in the summer of 2017 as an analyst. After completing an Industrial Economics degree at Nottingham University, Mike worked in Commodity Trading before taking some time out to travel Central & South America.
At 360 he focuses mainly on business turnarounds, strategic reviews and health check projects. He keeps on top of golf business trends and statistics, digital media, and business strategy. Mike is the 360 drone expert and he has created short films for a number of 360 clients and partners!
Mike lives in Putney, West London and plays Golf at a competitive amateur level and is a member of both Roehampton and Reigate Hill.
Gavin Cookman (Associate)
Gavin joined 360 in 2012 to work with us on golf business turn arounds. His professional background of over 35 years, spans banking, insurance and consulting focusing on turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, large-scale programme management, governance and risk management.
Gavin worked at NatWest, KPMG Consulting and Old Mutual in a series of executive, and non-executive roles and as a voluntary trustee on the Board of Diabetes UK. He left the City in 2012.
Through this experience across the private, public and charity sectors Gavin has seen how many of the challenges faced by golf businesses are the same in the “outside” world – he also believes that many of the solutions can be tailored to golf businesses, especially around marketing, profitability and customer satisfaction.
He lives with his family in South West London where he still coaches and plays (very slowly) hockey at Teddington Hockey Club.
