DIRECTOR: ROBERT CLIVE

robert@360golf.co.uk

Co-Founder and joint owner of 360 Golf, Robert Clive directs the UK golf clubs that we manage. He is responsible for completing Health Checks and advising existing golf facility operators. He also undertakes Feasibility Studies; an example of this is a detailed report on golf commissioned by Sport England.

Earlier in his career, Robert spent 16 years with De Beers, with postings in exotic parts of the world - including central Africa, Russia, Belgium and India (three years there) as a diamond buyer and dealer.

In 1998 Barrelfield Golf recruited him to develop Caversham Heath GC from farmland to a successful club with 450 members. In 2003 he joined Leaderboard Golf to manage their flagship club, The Oxfordshire, as well as to run professional golf tournaments and their corporate business. In Summer 2005 he joined forces with Mel Thomas to form 360 Golf.

Robert started playing golf aged 5, which is also his handicap, and is a member at both Huntercombe and St Enodoc. An avid sportsman, he still plays cricket occasionally (he is a member of the MCC). He supports Chelski football club, and the Henley Hawks rugby club. Robert lives in Oxfordshire with his wife, Janet, and two children, Dylan and Charly.

DIRECTOR: MEL THOMAS

melvin@360golf.co.uk

Co-Founder and joint owner of 360 Golf, most of Mel's work is in developing new projects, both overseas and in the UK. He specialises in creating opportunities for investors and developers. He also advises golf facility operators and Health Check customers, and undertakes Feasibility Studies for banks, investors and local councils.

One of the founders of Barrelfield Golf, Mel Thomas spent 15 years in the world of banking and commercial finance, based mostly in London. During this time he arranged finance for a number of new golf and property developments. Mel was Barrelfield’s Project Manager during the 1990s, using his skills to steer the project team at all the new golf developments that the company was involved in. He played a leading role in the development of Queenwood Golf Club, and in 2005 joined forces with Robert Clive to form 360 Golf. Mel is an experienced and entertaining conference speaker, specialising in talks on the development and future of golf in the UK.

When he’s not developing the sport Mel works on his own golf game at Queenwood, and is a long-suffering Crystal Palace football club supporter. He is also a keen traveller and bird-watcher. He is married to Lynne and lives in Surrey.
